Fresh from its award-winning festival run, join us for this special screening of ‘Totto-Chan’ at Jesus College, Cambridge. We have the great fortune to also be joined by film director YAKUWA Shinnosuke for a Q&A session following the movie. Presented in partnership with the Japan Foundation. Tickets below.

Totto-chan struggles in her traditional, strict elementary school. But, things begin to change when she moves to a progressive, liberating, new environment. Set during WWII, as the conflict starts to deepen.
About YAKUWA Shinnosuke
Born in Hokkaido Prefecture in 1981, YAKUWA Shinnosuke first began working in animation at the Shin-Ei Animation Studio in 2005 after graduating from Nihon University College of Art. For many years he directed numerous episodes of the popular animation series DORAEMON. His first feature-length animated film was DORAEMON: NEW NOBITA’S GREAT DEMON – PEKO AND THE EXPLORATION PARTY OF FIVE (2014). YAKUWA’s latest work TOTTO-CHAN (2023) has won numerous awards including the prestigious Paul Grimault Award at the international animation festival ANNECY.
