GLOBAL CULTURES: UK CYPRUS FILM FEST – CAMBRIDGE EDITION 14 DEC 2025

14 December 2025 @ 2:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Free – £10.00
Embryo Still 01

The event begins at 2pm with a screening of a selection of short films from The Myths of Cyprus, directed by Mark Kassinos and produced by the Press and Information Office of Cyprus. These short films, inspired by the island’s rich mythology and storytelling tradition, offer audiences an evocative glimpse into the legends and cultural heritage of Cyprus. This will be followed by an in-person Q&A with Dr. Iosif Hadjikyriakos and Mark Kassinos, exploring how folklore, art, and film can safeguard identity. At 3.45pm, we will present Embryo Larva Butterfly (2023), a thought-provoking, metaphysical love story that explores the fragile boundaries between time, memory, and identity. Set in a world where time shifts unpredictably, the film follows a couple as their relationship is tested by changing memories of the past, present, and future. Premiering at the 57th Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2023, the film has since captivated audiences at major festivals worldwide. Embryo Larva Butterfly is produced by AMP Filmworks (Cyprus) in co-production with Graal (Greece), with the support of the Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus, the Greek Film Centre, ERT, and Creative Europe.
