You Can't Take It Back

only enclose it in a file,
default to plan B,
leave your mark,
sink your fingerprints into fresh soil,
or wet cement,
rub the match on a textured surface,
and watch the temporary flame.

You can’t catch a rainstorm in a cotton ball,
or spread an impenetrable membrane
over the whole world.
Love is because of- instead of- in spite of-

You have just enough time
to live while you still breathe.
